Title: Nursing Care For High Myopia Patients Treated By Phakic Intraocular Lenses

Abstract

Background: Myopia has become a world epidemic. Phakic  Intraocular lenses is one of the surgical methods to treat high myopia. Before and after surgery, patients have many concerns and worries about pre–operative preparation and post-operative effectiveness. Therefore, advising and nursing care are very essential.

Purposes: (1) Reducing anxiety helps patients feel secure about surgery. (2) Achieving satisfaction after surgery. (3) Health education on early detection of myopia for timely treatment.

Methods: Before surgery, patients are explained about preparation for whole body and eyes. On the day of surgery, pain relief and nutrition are given top priority. After surgery, implementing medicine, continuing to maintain appropriate nutrition and advising patients on what to do and what not to do; health education about the importance of wearing glasses from child.

Results: Patients and family members feel secure when performing surgery. The surgery was safe, convenient. Patients are satisfied with service.

Conclusion: Nurse is the link between patient and doctor. Nurse contributes to ensuring quality care and large determines patient satisfaction.

Biography

Doan Thi Tham has completed her Bachelor Degree in Nursing in 2016 from Hanoi Medical University, Hanoi. Before, she had got Ophthalmic nursing certification from Nationnal Institute of Ophthalmology. Then in 2010, she completed a professional certification in Ophthalmic nursing care from Chiang Mai University, Thailand. In 2019, she got speaker certification at 4 Asean Ophthalmology Society Conference in Siem Reap, Cambodia. She has 10 publications in peer reviewed journal.
