Abstract

This study aims to list nutraceuticals marketed in Drugstores in the city of Goiania, Brazil, and evaluate the degree of knowledge of the pharmaceutical professional about the use of these products, good storage practices, guidelines for dispensing and Pharmaceutical prescription. This is a quantitative, observational research of the cross-sectional type, carried out by means of an electronic questionnaire distributed to pharmacists in Community pharmacies, located in the southern region in Goiania- Goias. In the period from July 15 to August 15, 2021. In the occasion it was performed the visit and interview to 30 pharmacies in which 30 pharmacists were interviewed. We verified that the most sold nutraceuticals were Propolis(Apis melifera), Maca Peruana(Lepidium meyeni), Garlic(Allium sativum), and the ones indicated/ OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATIONS by the pharmacist; Propolis, Cranberry(Vaccnium macrocarpom) and Maca Peruana and prescribed Garlic, Green tea (Camellia sinensis) and Turmeric (Curcuma longa). The Resolution 586 aimed to allow licensed pharmacists to prescribe pharmacological therapies. We identified that 46.7% never prescribed an Prescription free medications, and 43.3% never prescribed nutraceuticals, which exceeds 60% of the interviewees who never performed a pharmaceutical prescription., it is observed a large number of users of nutraceuticals without the accompaniment of a qualified professional, either pharmacist or nutritionist. It is important to emphasize that none of the professionals evaluated prescribed nutraceuticals.

This activity needs to be implemented, because although there is a legal guarantee for the prescription by the pharmacist, it is still not observed in the pharmacist's work routine the realization of this clinical attribution.
